¿Qué hacer?

  1. ROUTE HISTORY AND ARCHITECTURE FOR SALENTO: Discover The history of Salento is the history of the roads. Roads that shaped a nation, paths through which men and goods passed for centuries. It is the story of the conquest of the jungle by men with machetes, the history of the muleteer and his packets, the history of Antioquia mansions. All the magic of the history of a young town, that nevertheless is father of the others, we can understand walking the same streets, crossing the square, crossing a town stopped in time.
  2. THE 4 FORESTS: One way, four different forests. This route takes us into the Foggy Forests, meandering next to the San José Stream that descends in small waterfalls from the high mountains, full of birds singing and flowers of luscious colors shining among the intense green. Passing through the coniferous forests adorned with colorful mushrooms, we feel the silence and the mystery that surrounds them, to go out to a forest of Wax Palms, imposing in their greatness, dominating the landscape. Three magnificent viewpoints allow us to see from the heights the Valley that opens at our feet, the Valley of the Cócora Princess.
  3. THE PALMS VIEWPOINT: : A short and beautiful route. The route begins at the side of what was once a forest of Palmas de Cera, the same ones that amazed Van Humboldt with a forest of two canopies, where gigantic and ancient palms rise majestically towards the sky, above the mists that cover morning and evening the place. Climbing the mountain, we can see the lush forest with orchids, bromeliads and mosses that cover any surface, on the other side the cattle farms where one of the best milks is produced laboriously every day. The destination of the Trek is a stunning viewpoint towards the Valley, open in its landscape, in the middle of centuries-old Palmas de Cera and in front of the sacred mountains.
  4. ACAIME HUMMINGBIRD´S` RESERVE:Walking through the Misty Forest, we arrive at the Acaime Reserve. The unique opportunity to have a small hummingbird as close as you never imagined. Dozens of animals from 8 different species flying and buzzing around you, while the aroma of the panela water cup mixes with the smell of the forest. In addition to the hummingbirds, birds of other species roam the reserve, weaving nests in the form of baskets hanging from the trees or pecking at the trunks, as well as a family of Cusumbos, fun and wild, who occasionally come to take a snack in the tranquility of the place.
  5. MOUNTAINS AND WATERFALLS: Entering through the Canyon formed by Cárdenas Stream and leaving through the Cocora Valley, a beautiful path invites us to ascend under the canopy of trees in the middle of a Wax Palm hatchery, in all stages of its growth . Forest that changes as we look for the crest of the mountain, where parrots and toucans croak as they devour seeds and sow forest. Descending, the road and its viewpoints, to observe the magnificent carving made by the waters in its millenary journey. The ascent requires an effort, but each step takes us half of the magic of colors and wildlife.
  6. ESTRELLA DE AGUA:

At the edge of the High Mountain Forests, where the height of the trees begins to decrease due to the altitude of 2800 m.s., is the "Estrella de Agua" farm. Surrounded by lush forests, flanked by the La Platina and San José, its landscape of intense greens shaken by hundreds fountains shows us the proximity of the moorlands. In a day, we can go back and forth, passing through a Quindío indigenous cemetery, sacred place, forests of different floras and countless birds that change according to height. The way up has a somewhat arduous climb, but with the forest surrounding us it is an unforgettable experience.
